CodeRED Coverage for Cherokee County to be Upgraded / Expanded

The CodeRED coverage for Cherokee County is being upgraded and expanded.

During the Monday meeting of the Cherokee County Commission, new EMA Director Shawn Rogers presented the commission with a proposal that would provide additional coverage – adding new features while effectively doubling the reach.

That proposal was unanimously approved by the commission.  Cherokee County residents will be able to receive CodeRED messages, PLUS local messages and alerts issued by Cherokee County EMA.  CodeRED is a FREE service.

For additional information on how to sign up – contact the EMA office at (256) 927-3367 or print out the form below

In other business two resurfacing projects are in the pipeline for Cherokee County with one being a length of 2.4 miles of County Road 20, from County Road 7 to County Road 150; and a length of just under 2.2 miles of County Road 33, from County Road 308 to approximately 200 feet north of County Road 172.

Also, Commission Chairman Kirk Day made the announcement that appointments for three positions on the Cherokee County Industrial Development Authority would be made during the June 12th commission meeting – those being for the District 1, 3 and 4 posts, with those resumes being accepted through June the 7th.  All applicants must reside within the district in which they seek to serve.

The next meeting of the Cherokee County Commission is set for Monday, May 22nd starting at 5:00pm – taking place in the County Administration Building in Centre.
