Staff Reports

COLLINSVILLE – The Collinsville Panthers dominated on both sides of the ball Friday night in a 44-6 homecoming victory over Brindlee Mountain.

The Panthers (2-2, 1-1) churned out 344 total yards of offense, while holding Brindlee Mountain (0-3, 0-2) to just 10 yards on the ground.

Collinsville scored touchdowns the first six times it had the ball, then added a safety on a muffed Lion punt covered by the punter in the end zone.

All of the scoring came in the first half.

“It’s really good to get a homecoming win, and this was a really good win,” Collinsville coach Ernie Willingham said. “We got everybody into the game (as the second half was played with shortened time). Now we have to get ready for Sylvania. They will really be a big test for us.”

Panther quarterback Keaton DeBoard ran for just 28 yards, but scored two touchdowns on his three carries. He got the Panthers on the board with a 5-yard touchdown run with 9:48 to go in the first quarter.

DeBoard then connected with Colton Wills on a 25-yard touchdown pass later in the first quarter to push the Panther lead to 14-0. Wills also ran for 57 yards on four carries.

Carson Dennis delivered the next Collinsville score on a 9-yard touchdown run, giving the Panthers a 21-0 edge after a quarter of play. Dennis also had an interception on defense.

DeBoard opened the second-quarter scoring on a 16-yard touchdown run for a 28-0 Panther lead.

The Lions scored their only touchdown on an Ian Garner 48-yard pass. The extra point was no good.

DeBoard returned the ensuing kickoff 83 yards for a score. Fernando Padilla, who ran for 73 yards on five carries, later added a 12-yard touchdown run.

A safety on a Brindlee Mountain punt attempt with 1:49 before halftime was the final points in the game.
