COLLINSVILLE – Malachi Orr ran for 124 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries, but they weren’t enough to lead the Collinsville Panthers past Plainview in Class 3A, Region 7 football action on Thursday night. The Bears claimed a 29-13 road win.

Marcos Vega got Plainview (6-1, 3-1) on the board first with his 3-yard touchdown run. Brody McCurdy caught the 2-point conversion pass from quarterback Noah White for an 8-0 lead with 8:24 to go in the first quarter.

White scored the Bears next touchdown on a 4-yard run with 10:13 remaining in the second quarter for a 14-0 advantage.

Orr ran in Collinsville’s first score on a 3-yard carry. Dalton Hughes connected on the extra point to trim Plainview’s lead to 14-7 with 7:27 left in the first half.

But on the ensuing kickoff, the Bears’ Levi Brown dashed 85 yards for a touchdown. Vega caught the ensuing 2-point conversion pass from White to give Plainview a 22-7 advantage with seven minutes to go in the first half.

Collinsville scored again right before the first half ended on Keaton DeBoard’s 23-yard touchdown run. The Panthers trailed 22-13 at the break.

McCurdy scored the only touchdown of the second half with 2:59 remaining in the third quarter on an 8-yard run. Jacob Yates added the PAT for the final.

Vega led the Bears’ rushing attack with 100 yards on 14 carries with a touchdown. McCurdy added 86 yards and a score on 10 totes. White finished with 79 yards on nine carries.

Hughes had 37 yards on 20 totes for Collinsville. He also completed 3-of-7 pass attempts for 34 yards and had a fumble recovery on defense. DeBoard finished with 28 yards and a touchdown on three carries.

Collinsville hosts Asbury next Friday.
