Colonial Pipeline to be Back Up and Running at Full Capacity by Wednesday

It looks as though Colonial Pipeline will re-start its Line 1 on Wednesday (September 21st).

A leak was discovered on September 9th leading to that main line being closed down until a Bypass Line, measuring approximately 500 feet, could be built.

The shut down caused some minor to moderate disruption in fuel distribution, across much of the southeast, including of course, Alabama.

According to reports that line normally pushes in the neighborhood of 1.3 million barrels of refined gasoline per day to distribution centers throughout the southeast.

Colonial continues to recover gasoline from the site of the leak and a mining retention pond which collected gasoline from that spill. The Environmental Protection Agency says there is no indication that any gasoline reached Peel Creek, which is a tributary of the Cahaba River.

Colonial says even though the repairs have been made it will likely take several days for the fuel delivery supply chain to completely return to normal and as a result there could still be  some isolated disruptions in service for a limited time.
