Community Gathers For Candle Light Vigil In Memory Of Pete Foster

The recent brutal murder of a Cedar Bluff man has left many people asking the question why?

A large crowd of family members, neighbors, and friends held a candle light vigil for Leroy “Pete” Foster in the Cedar Bluff Town Park on Thursday evening.

Those gathered shared their stories of how Pete touched their lives and the community in a positive manner – Pastors from the Cedar Bluff area also spoke on how such a tragedy in the community has brought everyone together.

Those that knew Pete often referred to him as a good man who would never bring harm to anyone, often stopping throughout the neighborhood for a visit, and many times spending time playing with neighbors’ children.

Pete Foster was last seen alive on Monday, March 23rd before being reported missing to authorities the following Friday – that Sunday human remains were found by a citizen in the area of County Road 82 in Cedar Bluff believed to be that of Leroy Pete Foster.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the home of 63 year old Cedar Bluff resident Terry McKinney, where evidence was collected which led to him being arrested and charged with murder for killing Foster.

According to the family members, Foster often preformed handyman work for McKinney from time to time – it is believed that Foster was last seen with McKinney.

Memorial Services for Leroy “Pete” Foster are scheduled for Saturday at 11:00 am at Providence Baptist Church in Leesburg.
