Community Invited to View GSCC Master Facilities Plan

Gadsden State Community College recently published a comprehensive Facilities Master Plan.

The long-term strategic plan includes a close look at buildings, parking, traffic flow, lighting, safety, and green space utilization across all six of the College’s campuses.  It provides a template for long-term priorities to better serve students, faculty, and staff to sustain a highly effective efficient and growing regional institution of higher learning.

Focusing both on current needs and potential future growth, the Architectural & Engineering firm of Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood conducted the research and preparation of the plan.  The research team began their work with a series of meetings that brought together the faculty, staff, administrators, and community members to discuss recommendations to best utilize existing space, land, and buildings, as well as prioritize improvements and potential future expansions.

From this yearlong study, Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood has prepared a set of architectural renderings for the College that provide a visual representation of all six campuses in the future.  These drawings will be on public display in the Austin Meadows Library (Wallace Drive Campus) and Pierce Cain Learning Resource Center (Ayers Campus).  Community members are invited to view the display Monday through Thursday during the hours of 7:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. beginning July 22 through August 8.   Following this period the drawings will be available for viewing August 12-15 at the Valley Street Campus during the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and at Gadsden State Cherokee during the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
