Confirmed Cases of COVID-19 in Alabama Tops 8,000 Mark

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases across the state has topped 8,000 – currently the ADPH COVID-19 Data and Surveillance Dashboard shows 8,112 cases – with 298 confirmed deaths resulting from the illness.

According to that latest Alabama Department of Public Health data – 1,080 individuals have thus far been hospitalized, and the number tested stands at 103,302.

The ADPH also lists Cherokee County as having 16 confirmed cases, out of 305 people being tested; however that doesn’t include the results of the free drive-thru testing clinic that was held last week, as those figures have yet to be compiled and released.

In surrounding counties confirmed cases are considerably higher than they are locally – but that goes hand-in-hand with a larger number of tests being conducted.

DeKalb County has had 90 positive results out of the 1,130 tests administered there – while in Etowah County there are 146 confirmed cases following a total of 2,043 tests; meanwhile Calhoun County has 105 confirmed cases after a total of 1,654 people being tested.
