Confirmed Cases of COVID-19 Set to Surpass 90,000 Statewide

The Alabama Department of Public Health data for Monday, August 3rd showed an increase of 1,116 cases since the day prior (Sunday, August 2nd) bringing the state’s running total to 89,927 cases with the death toll from COVID-19 climbing to a total of 1,580.

Cherokee County has so far seen a total of 242 confirmed cases with another 21 being listed as “probable” with seven deaths resulting from the illness; one other listed as “probable”.

Of those tested locally for COVID-19 during the past 14 days, 71 results came back positive.

Numbers in neighboring counties are as follows:

Calhoun – 1,560 confirmed cases with 9 deaths;

Cleburne – 121 confirmed cases with 1 death;

DeKalb – 1,701 confirmed cases with 13 deaths;

Etowah – 1,930 confirmed cases with 26 deaths.

The number of presumed recoveries statewide now stands at 35,401.
