Congressman Mike Rogers Visits Cherokee County On Monday

Congressman Rogers held a ‘Congress On Your Corner” session at the Chamber of Commerce Meeting Room in Centre

Third District Congressman Mike Rogers paid a visit to Cherokee County on Monday afternoon. His first stop was a “Congress On Your Corner” event held at the Chamber of Commerce Meeting Room where he addressed a group of local law enforcement officials and other citizens.

Congressman Rogers also made a stop at the Centre Rotary Club luncheon in Centre where he touched on a number of topics currently facing the nation – one of those issues being the passing of a two year budget deal. Rogers said that this was exceptionally important because the issue will not have to be addressed until the next election year. Rogers said that congress was also able to pass an appropriations bill.

One of the most talked about topics over the recent weeks/months has been the subject of expanded gun control and ‘red flag’ laws.

Another much talked about issue across the nation is the subject of Illegal immigration – Congressman Rogers is steadfast that something must be done to combat illegal immigrants from entering the United States.

Rogers also touched on the establishment of a new ‘Space Force”.

We will have more on Congressman Rogers visit to Cherokee County later in the week.
