If you have driven down East Main Street in Centre over the last several weeks you may have noticed the construction of the new Centre Elementary School in full swing.

Now that the rain has settled, contractors have been able to move ahead with the construction of the facility. On Tuesday, WEIS Radio News spoke to Centre Elementary School Principal Wes Neyman about the progress.

Mr. Neyman said that the new school is something that the faculty and staff is incredibly excited about, especially all the advantages the new campus will offer.

Mr. Neyman said that this project came to fruition through a mutual understanding with the school board and superintendent and school officials that the current facility was not adequate for the faculty, staff and most importantly the students.

Mr. Neyman said that the anticipated date of completion is scheduled to be somewhere around the summer of May of 2020 with the hopes of being able to officially open for the 2020/2021 school year.
