Convicted Killer Barbara Ann Roberts Back In Court In Cherokee County

Roberts 1Convicted killer, Barbara Ann Roberts, is back in Cherokee County Court this week on civil matters.

Roberts has filed a suit against Rome, Georgia Attorney Steve Lanier and his law firm, alleging he took money to defend her in a murder case in Alabama but failed to render services.

She is asking for compensatory damages in the amount of $65,000, plus damages for mental anguish and punitive damages of unspecified amounts.

Roberts is being represented by Attorney Jerry Blevins of Montgomery. Mr. Lanier is being defended by Gadsden Attorney Roy McCord. The Case is being heard in Courtroom of Circuit Judge Shaunathan Bell.

The jury was selected on Monday with the attorneys giving opening statements. The case will resume Tuesday morning at 9.
