Authorities have now identified the two women whose bodies were discovered Wednesday off the bypass at the Etowah River Bridge in Floyd County, Georgia.

Deputy Floyd County Coroner Connie Chandler identified the women as 19-year old Vanita Richardson and 30-year old Clarice Truvenia Campbell – both of Rome.

A GBI Medical Examiner has completed an autopsy on both individuals, and their manner of death has been classified as homicide.

Anyone traveling in that area and seeing anything considered suspicious between Tuesday around 10:30pm and Wednesday morning about 11:00, investigators need your help.

Call the GBI at 1-800-597-TIPS (8477) with any information which you may have related to the investigation.

Vanita Richardson was a student at Armuchee High School – she was scheduled to graduate next Saturday.

The Floyd County School System issued a statement Thursday which read:  “We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by the news of the death of one of our students. We extend our deepest sympathies to the Armuchee Community and her friends and family at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. Vanita will be remembered for being a fun-loving, humble, and motivated student who was making strong plans for her future.  Even throughout the school closures, Vanita’s passing is felt by all. In particular, the staff members whose lives she touched with her caring personality and big heart.  The Armuchee High social worker and counselor will be available for virtual grief and loss counseling sessions. Students who are interested should email them directly.”
