Cotton Picker Destroyed By Fire On County Road 5 In Leesburg

A cotton picker was destroyed after catching fire in a field at a location on County Road 5 in Leesburg on Wednesday morning. Leesburg Fire Chief Jeremy Lee tells WEIS Radio that the machine was in operation when it caught fire and exploded.

Fortunately the driver was not injured. Leesburg Firefighters had to use a four-wheel drive brush truck to access the fire. Cherokee County EMA Director Shawn Rogers and law enforcement officers also responded to the scene. Chief Lee says that the origin of the fire is unknown.
