Tommy Moon and Randall McCord to discuss the recently published book they co-authored, The Cotton-Picking Centre Warriors, at the October 20th Historical Preservation Society meeting.
If you love Cherokee County history and football, you will not want to miss Mr. Moon and Mr. McCord share of their experiences of playing for the Cherokee County High School Warriors. Mr. Moon lives in Cherokee County and Mr. McCord in Floyd County, GA. Both men were lettermen at Cherokee County High School. Mr. McCord writes, “The journey began in late May of 2010 with m y job being writing and Tommy researching. Our findings immediately confirmed what we already knew – football and farming was and is forever intertwined at Cherokee County High.” He further writes, “Therefore, if football is the spirit of CCHS, then cotton is the soul; hence, the title “The Cotton-Picking Centre Warriors,” was born.” You will have the unique opportunity to hear the authors preview their book and to purchase an autographed copy.
The Historical Preservation Society of Cherokee County (formerly the Cherokee County Historical Society) meeting will be held at the Cherokee County Historical Museum in Centre on Tuesday, October 20, at 6:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend and the admission is free.
