Counterfeit “Movie Money” Passed at Lucky’s Supermarket in Menlo Last Week

An employee at Lucky’s Supermarket in Menlo alerted the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office about counterfeit money that was used to purchase some items late last week.

A store cashier told a deputy that Thursday, June 4th, a man used a counterfeit $20 bill that was marked “movie money” to purchase $10.68 in items and received $9.32 in change.  The clerk said that the man waited until her checkout lane was busy before getting in line.  After the customer had already left, the cashier discovered the money was phony.  The incident was caught on surveillance video.

The case remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
