WEIS Radio welcomed one of the hottest new acts in the country music business to the studio on Wednesday morning – Jetset Getset is in the midst of another radio tour, and since their previous visit with us in June of last year (2013) they’ve been busy to say the least with visits to Nashville and LA, including many, many live performances along the way – not to mention, their brand new album release.

Jetset Getset (JSGS) is a dynamic country music group comprised of mostly teenagers, but don’t let their ages fool you. Their upbeat songs have meaningful lyrics and the musicians play as well as most others twice their age.

Recognized by the Country Music Association among “Who New to Watch” in 2013, Jetset Getset has a style that Music Connection Magazine described as “sprightly country twang.” Brian Clough, host of Britain’s country music radio program “The American Connection,” called Jetset Getset a “brilliant fresh slice of across the board country sounds.”

Jetset Getset is comprised of Tori Little (vocals), Avery Eliason (vocals), Jason Owens (lead guitar), Justen Jette (rhythm guitar), Paul Kelley (bass), Gillian Bowman (drums/percussion), and Terry Ranck (keyboards), the only adult who performs with the band on a regular basis.

Based in Dearborn County, Indiana, Jetset Getset began in 2011 when music teacher-turned-manager Kelli Jette decided to assemble a young group to perform at local festivals, mostly for fun. Soon, they were venturing farther from home, as far south as Virginia and Tennessee and as far north as Minnesota, entertaining audiences with their pitch-perfect harmonies and precisely choreographed stage moves.

In the spring of 2012, JSGS was performing their signature song “Indiana Baby” on the nationally syndicated “Shotgun Red Variety Show” on Nashville’s RFD-TV network, when retired country music producer and radio legend Jack Gale happened to see them. Impressed with the group’s harmonies, Gale contacted Jette and asked if JSGS would be interested in signing a recording contract. After conferring with the group’s parents, Jette said yes. Gale came out of retirement and reactivated his company, Playback Records, in Nashville.

“Jetset Getset is terrific,” Gale says. “There are very few kids singing country music, and these girls’ harmonies are different from anything that anyone else is doing.”

With help from co-producer Jim Pierce, Gale and JSGS spent five days recording at the acclaimed Nashville studios Catch This Music and Sound Control, under the direction of engineer Mark Moseley. Joining Jetset Getset on the album are some of Nashville’s top session musicians: guitarist Kerry Marx, drummer Eddie Bayers, acoustic guitarist Michael Spriggs, bass guitarist Duncan Mullins, pianist Michael Rojas, fiddler Rob Hajacos, and fiddler/mandolin player Wanda Vick.

The result is Jetset Getset’s first professionally produced album, “Saturday Night,” featuring 10 outstanding songs about life, love and friendship. Some songs on the album, such as the anthem-like “Stronger” and the energetic “Think About You,” were composed by Jennifer Eliason, the mother of singer Avery Eliason, in collaboration with her songwriting son, Trent. Others were written by established country music songwriters, including Britain’s Nelson King and Nashville’s Tom Paden, who has penned hits for Reba McEntire, Kenny Rogers and other country music icons.

Jetset Getset had previously released a self-produced album. But “Saturday Night” boasts the kind of polished sound that only experienced Nashville producers and engineers working with talented singers and musicians can achieve.
