County Commission Honors Spring Garden High School Baseball Team

There were a number of items on the agenda for Monday’s meeting of the Cherokee County Commission, starting with Commission Chairman Tim Burgess announcing that Brian Perry had tendered his resignation from the Centre-Piedmont-Cherokee County Regional Airport Authority.  The appointment to fill that unexpired term ending January 2019 will take place at the August 13th meeting of the commission.  The submittal of resumes and letters will be accepted through Wednesday, August 1st, until close of business, in the Commission Office.

In other business – the commission approved a Computer Software Support agreement and addendum with Delta Computer Systems, Inc., in the monthly amount of $850.00; approved the terms and conditions of a Community Grant Agreement with the Alabama Bicentennial Commission Foundation; and also approved Insolvents, Errors and Taxes in Litigation for 2017 and Uncollected Insolvents and Taxes in Litigation for previous years as presented by the Revenue Commissioner’s Office.

Commission members also approved a 2017 Chevy Silverado Truck to be sold as surplus by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office on govdeals.com – they additionally approved a hire by the District Attorney’s Office to replace a retiring employee:

Commissioners also adopted a resolution honoring the Spring Garden High School Baseball Team for excellence in athletics.  You can hear Commissioner Randy Jones read that resolution in its entirety by clicking the link below

The commission went into an Executive Session.  They re-convened a short time later with no action being taken on the matter.

The next meeting of the Cherokee County Commission is scheduled for Monday, July 23rd, beginning at 5:00pm, taking place in the County Administration Building on the Cedar Bluff Road in Centre.
