WEIS Radio News has learned the name of the victim in a fatal shooting occurring on Friday morning in Cherokee County – according to sources 32 year old Jessica Diane Hite Messaadi was shot and killed by her juvenile son just prior to 11:00 at a residence on County Road 19 in the Ball Play community.
The victim’s son was taken into custody that afternoon – and then, transported to a juvenile detention facility.
Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Investigators, the Major Crimes Unit and the JSU Center for Applied Forensics in addition to the County Coroner’s Office, are taking part in the on-going investigation.
