DeKalb County Deputies and K-9 Unit Make Several Drug Arrests Over Three Day Period

Over a three day period, December 29th, 30th & 31st, one of DeKalb County’s K-9 Deputies conducted a series of traffic stops, which resulted in the arrest of seven individuals on drug charges.

During a traffic stop taking place on Ivey Road in Rainsville on the 29th, the deputy noticed that a passenger in the vehicle appeared to be extremely nervous; a search of the individual – 57 year old Lamar Daniel Bryant of Crossville, turned up a black box containing meth – he was subsequently placed under arrest on charges of possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A traffic stop the following day on County Road 38 in Fyffe resulted in the arrest of all three individuals in the vehicle being arrested, charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, in the wake of K-9 Yogi doing an “open air” sniff and alerting on the vehicle with deputies then finding a glass pipe, and a red glass smoking bone.  Those arrested included Jonathan Tyler Evans, age 31 of Rainsville, Hollie Nicole Reneau, 33 of Ft Payne, and a 19 year old resident of Section, Andrew Lee Gonzalez.

On December 31st the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office received calls regarding a vehicle with two men and a women pulling into the driveways of homes and knocking on doors.  Quickly  deputies made contact with the vehicle and after speaking with them conducted a search of the vehicle, finding a bag containing scales, a small bag of meth and syringes. 

Arrested at the scene were – 29 year old Thomas Bernard James of Scottsboro, a resident of Dawson, James Kyle Hairston, also 29, and 48 year old Laura Ann Wheeler from Scottsboro.  All three were charged with possession of controlled substance, and the possession of drug paraphernalia.
