DeKalb County Man Killed; Cherokee County Man Injured in Monday Morning Accident / UPDATED

A DeKalb County man was killed and a Cherokee County man injured in a two-vehicle crash taking place during the early morning hours of Monday (May 10th).

According to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident reports – that collision took place about 4:15am, on DeKalb County Road 483, approximately six miles south of Ft Payne when the driver of a 2001 Nissan Frontier failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck by a 2004 Kia Optima.

The driver of the Nissan – identified as 59 year old Cranston James Noojin of Ft Payne – was pronounced dead at the scene; while the driver of the Kia – identified as a male resident of Leesburg, was transported for treatment of non-specified injuries.

No additional information is being released at this time.

That wreck remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
