DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Theft of Two Vehicles / UPDATED

DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Investigators have been working with Sylvania Police Chief Darren Myers to find two missing vehicles.

One of those vehicles was a truck that went missing from the Sylvania Truss Company, with the other being a 2007 Chevy van that was reported stolen from the Chestnut Grove Church on September 27th

The vehicle from Sylvania Truss Company was noticed missing between October 14th and 18th.  Sylvania Police Chief Myers received a tip regarding the location of the truck and when the chief, deputies and investigators arrived at a residence on Road 9053 in Hammondville, the vehicle was recovered. That case is still being investigated and no arrests have been made – however arrest warrants are expected in the near future.

Information from a concerned citizen came in about the 2007 Chevrolet van being found in a corn field on County Road 112 in Sylvania.  The van is currently being processed for any forensics evidence that could lead to an arrest in this case.

Chief Deputy Michael Edmondson says “The Deputies, Investigators and Sylvania Police Chief Darren Myers have been working together in a recovery effort of both of these vehicles and they both have been recovered with the help of concerned citizen’s tips. I want to thank Chief Myers, Deputies and Investigators for the long hours that they have put in to finding these vehicles.”
