DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Recovers Stolen Construction Equipment

On Tuesday of this week (January 29th) Investigators and Deputies with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office located several items of stolen construction equipment.

The equipment was reported stolen from a jobsite on Interstate-59 between the Steele and Ashville exits in St. Clair County. Investigators had been working a case of stolen equipment from DeKalb County when the items were discovered.

A Caterpillar skid steer, Stihl concrete saw, and a Multiquip soil compactor were all located at a home on County Road 365 just a short distance from New Canaan Baptist Church in the Whiton Community.

Gabriel Ramirez Garcia, age 30 of Crossville, has been arrested in connection with that case. Garcia faces two counts of Receiving Stolen Property 1st Degree and one count of Receiving Stolen Property 2nd Degree.

He had been arrested by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office on drug possession and a stolen weapon charge two weeks prior to the equipment being found, and is currently being held by Immigration & Customs Enforcement.  DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden thanked the Geraldine and Albertville Police Departments for their assistance on this case.
