District Court Judge Shaunathan Bell Visits the WEIS Radio Studios

It’s always a pleasure to welcome Judge Shaunathan Bell – Circuit Court Judge for Cherokee and DeKalb counties back into the WEIS Radio studios, and he spent time on Thursday with morning show host Jerry Baker letting everyone know that things are beginning to get back to normal in the court system – with jury trials set to resume September 14th.

He also wanted to let the citizens of Cherokee County know what to expect in regard to jury duty notices:

There will be two waves of jury notices for September 14th one for 9:00am and another for 1:30 that afternoon.

Judge Bell added that the American judicial system is without a doubt the best in the world, and while, with the advent of highly sophisticated technology allowing for virtual meetings, court hearings and so on – nothing can actually replace a jury trial:

The judge also discussed a number of other issues during his visit, including the long-list of measures associated with dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic; the inner-workings of local and state government in select areas – and the extreme importance of filling out your 2020 Census form just to name a few.
