DNA Match Leads To The Arrest Of A Suspect In Burglary/Theft Case

According to a news release from Chief Steve Guthrie, back on June, 29 of 2020 Deputies responded to an alarm call on Columbus City Rd near Grant Al. When Deputies arrived Grant PD was already on scene to assist.

Deputies observed a side window leading into the garage had been broken. Blood was visible on the broken glass and floor below the window. Deputies then cleared the residence and collected evidence The homeowner then determined that certain items had be taken at the time of the incidence.

Marshall County Investigators submitted blood samples taken from the crime scene to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science in Huntsville. On Jan. 22, a DNA match was made indicating Cole Dewight Duncan of Word Mountain Rd Grant was the offender. Duncan was arrested and charged with Burglary 3rd and Theft of Property 4th his bond was set at $13,000.00
