Dole Salad Recall / Product Sold in Alabama

In yet another product recall, Dole Fresh Vegetables Inc. has recalled certain types of bagged salad over concerns of listeria; the Food & Drug Administration has stated no illnesses have been reported – but the voluntary recall was issued following a sample by the Georgia Department of Agriculture yielding positive results for bacterium that can potentially lead to listeria infection.

The salad was sold under several different brand names, and distributed in Alabama, as well as 9 other states: Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia.

The recall covers:

  • 24-ounce Dole Garden Salad, lot codes N28205A and N28205B, UPC code 0-71430-01136-2
  • 24-ounce Marketside Classic Salad, lot codes N28205A and N28205B, UPC code 6-81131-32895-1
  • 12-ounce Kroger Brand Garden Salad, lot codes N28211A and N28211B, UPC code 0-11110-91036-3
  • 12-ounce Salad Classics Garden Salad, lot codes N28211A and N28211B, UPC code 6-88267-18443-7

All of the impacted products are beyond their “best if used by” dates, and they should no longer be sold in stores.

Consumers are urged to check with the products in their homes and discard any that match the affected lot and UPC codes.

No other Dole products, or products made by Dole, are included in the recall.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal, infections in young children, frail or elderly individuals and many others that may be suffering weakened immune systems.
