Here’s one from the “I can’t actually believe that happened” files:

Chattooga County, Georgia Sheriff Mark Schrader said an accidental phone call occurring on January 7th lead to the arrest of two individuals on drug charges.

On that date an open line phone call came into the Chattooga County E-9-1-1 center and the dispatchers could hear a male and female talking in the background; they heard the female telling the male, that he needed to put the pills in a pill bottle “in case he was pulled over by law enforcement.”  While officers were en route, dispatchers advised that they could hear a car starting up and as law enforcement arrived they witnessed a black Honda sedan leaving the residence.

They pulled over the vehicle and spoke with the driver, who was identified as Casey Carlton – and asked for his license.  Carlton said his license was suspended and he didn’t have them The passenger, Randall Brock, appeared nervous and was asked to step out of the vehicle.

Brock admitted he had “some weed” in his pocket – and also had his mother’s pills “for safe keeping.”  Officers told Brock he could not have anyone else’s pills that were not prescribed to him. A subsequent search turned up 15 pills believed to be Oxycodone, along with plastic Goody packets containing suspected Methamphetamine inside Brocks wallet.

Running Carlton’s information resulted in discovery of an active warrant in Walker County. After removing Carlton from the vehicle, the officers found four suspected Oxycodone pills in the driver’s seat where he’d been sitting.

Brock’s mother was at the residence and she admitted that she had given him the pills after trying to tell officers that the suspects were bringing her the medicine – and not leaving

Both Carlton and Brock were placed under arrest and transported to the Chattooga County Jail.
