DOT Clean Up Crews Respond to Hydraulic Oil Spill Along Portion of Highway 9 Early Wednesday Afternoon

A potentially dangerous situation was averted due to the quick response of local emergency personnel, after being notified of a hydraulic oil spill occurring along a stretch of Highway 9 Wednesday afternoon around 2:30.  A dump truck was traveling down the roadway, and the driver was unaware that there was a problem with the hydraulic lift on the vehicle leaving a trail of oil as they were going from the intersection of Highways 9 and 68 to the Cobia Bridge.

Cedar Bluff Police Chief Steve Walden notified 9-1-1 dispatch of that situation, and Alabama Department of Transportation cleanup crews were contacted; they immediately responded to the area to treat the spill with loads sand and perform clean up operations.
