Dr. Roger Nichols is announcing his bid for re-election to the Cherokee County Commission, District 2.

A 1980 graduate of Cherokee County High School, Roger went on to earn a degree in Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University in 1987.  He has owned and operated Nichols Animal Hospital in Centre for the last 34 years.

In 2005, Dr. Nichols and his wife, Jeannie, founded Leesburg Guns in Leesburg, where they sell guns and ammunition, along with safes.  He believes in the old adage of hard work, along with self reliance, top-quality service, small business, and small, highly-efficient government.

Through careful consideration, some hard decisions and appropriate belt-tightening, the County Commission has managed to reduce a deficit of $2 million to zero, without increasing local taxes or reducing services provided to citizens of the county.

During his time in office Cherokee County has purchased property where a beautiful new courthouse will be built

Life-saving CPR compression machines have been bought for the hospital, as well as rescue squad, ambulances, and every fire department. 

Dr. Nichols says we have many more roads and bridges which will need repairs and resurfacing in the near future.  Due to the increase in the price of materials required for the jobs, a great amount of discipline will be required to get the most out of our tax money.  Roger believes he has the discipline, dedication and desire to make sure these projects are done in the most effective manner.

The healthy transportation of goods to and from Cherokee County will lead to growth in our local economy making life better for everyone.
