Dramatic Increase in COVID-19 Cases Across Alabama from Tuesday into Wednesday

The number of coronavirus cases across the state of Alabama, increased dramatically, going from Tuesday into Wednesday.

According to the latest figures from the Alabama Department of Public Health – as of 10:00 that morning the state has had 197,777 COVID-19 cases since March 13th with 1,848 added since the day before.

Of that number, 360 were presumed cases, 1488 were confirmed. The counties showing the large increases were Jefferson (+219); Mobile (+99); and neighboring Etowah (+135).

The state has tested 99,315 people for COVID-19 over the last 14 days; of those recent tests 22,460 were deemed positive.

Alabama’s COVID death toll has also topped 3,000, at 3,009; of those deaths, 77% were ages 65 and older – 52% were male and 56% were white.
