Driver Charged Following Monday Afternoon Wreck in Rome / UPDATED

The driver of a Jeep Cherokee is facing charges following a wreck with a motorcycle taking place Monday afternoon on Shorter Avenue in Rome.

According to PFC Danny Storey of the Rome Police Department, 54 year old Roderick Louis Hite was attempting to turn left near Church’s Chicken and collided with the motorcycle, knocking it to the sidewalk.

29 year old Corey Alexander Coots and 30 year old Jessica Marie Coots – who were both on the motorcycle, were taken to Floyd Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

According to Floyd County Jail records, Roderick Louis Hite was charged with two counts of serious injury by vehicle and one count of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

The wreck occurred at around 3:30pm Monday.
