Driver Charged with DUI Following County Road 47 Crash Tuesday Morning / UPDATED

A Ft Payne man received minor injuries in a single-vehicle crash on County Road 47 around 10:30 Tuesday morning, according to information in the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report released early Wednesday.

Cherokee EMS, Tucker’s Chapel Volunteer Fire Department, and Alabama State Troopers all responded to the scene around two miles east of Sand Rock, where a 1999 Chrysler Town & Country Van left the roadway and took out a road sign and utility pole prior to crashing into some small trees.

According to the accident report the driver, 37 year old Christopher L. Campbell of Ft Payne – who was listed as being hurt in the mishap – was wearing his seat belt at the time.  Campbell was booked in at the Cherokee County Detention Center at 3:09pm on a charge of DUI with bond set at $500; he made bond and was released at 11:14 that night according to information posted on the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office website.
