Driver Escapes Injury In Fiery Crash In Leesburg

The driver of an SUV very luckily escaped injury after their vehicle ran off of the road, struck a power pole and through a field before catching fire on Tuesday evening.

The mishap occurred on Holman St (Co Rd 44) disrupting service to traffic signals in Leesburg and some area businesses and residences.

Emergency crews from the Leesburg Police and Fire Departments, Cherokee EMS and the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene, additional assistance was provided by the Sand Rock Fire Department for additional manpower and water.

Cherokee Electric crews also responded and worked for an extended period of time repairing the line and restoring power.

We’ll have additional information as accident reports are released by Leesburg Police.
