Driver Listed in Critical Condition after High Speed Chase Leads to Crash

chase1A Floyd County man is currently listed in critical condition, following a high speed chase on Monday morning.

Shortly after 10:00am, a 9-1-1 call reporting a woman being assaulted at an Armuchee area residence led to Floyd County Police being dispatched to the location.

While en route, officers were notified that the suspect, identified as Bryant Gamble, driving a Black Ford Explorer, had returned to the scene – however he left again prior to the arrival of officers.

The suspect’s vehicle was soon spotted near Highway 27 North and the Veteran’s Memorial Highway, at which point the pursuit began – with the Explorer heading down Martha Berry Boulevard. He eventually crashed the vehicle on South Broad Street – striking a wall and a lamp post before overturning.

Emergency workers had to extricate Gamble from the vehicle. He was then taken to Floyd Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.

Circumstances surrounding that initial 9-1-1 call are being looked into by the Floyd County Police Department Criminal Investigation Division while the accident is being investigated by the Georgia State Patrol.
