Drug Agents Execute a Search Warrant at the Home of the Etowah County Coroner

(Etowah County, Alabama) Etowah County Coroner Michael Head has been charged in connection to the theft of prescription medication, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

Michael Head, 52, Gadsden, was arrested Tuesday, August 2, and charged with one count of second degree theft of property and one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance (Ambien), both are felonies.    

A search warrant was conducted by the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office and Drug Enforcement Unit at Head’s residence, Tuesday evening, on Mistletoe Hollow Road, Gadsden.  Today, a search warrant was conducted on his office inside the Etowah County Courthouse.

An investigation began when concerned citizens brought evidence to the Sheriff’s Office that Head may be using his public office to supply himself with controlled substances.  Relatives of the deceased have observed Head taking prescription medications from the death scene.  

John Simon Head, 26, was arrested at his father’s residence on three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance (heroin, methamphetamine and Adderall), which is a felony, and one count of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.  At the time, he was out on bond for previous narcotic charges.    

Michael Head is currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a $4,000 property bond.  John is being held without bond
