Drug Warrant Roundup In Etowah County Nets Several Arrests

Warrant Round UpAgents with the Etowah County Drug Enforcement made a total of 31 drug arrests on Tuesday of this week, arresting 60 percent of the 54 people they were seeking during Operation Swift Action.

According to Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit Commander Rob Savage agents were very pleased with the results of the roundup. Savage said the warrants were the result of several investigations conducted by the DEU in the last few months.

The majority of the arrests made were for distributing drugs.

The roundup Tuesday sent agents looking for suspects through the county and involved officers from all surrounding police departments, the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI, the ATF and the U.S. Marshals Service.

By midday, at least 11 people had been arrested on charges of distribution of controlled substances. One of those 10 was charged with drug trafficking.

Additional suspects were charged with possession of a controlled substance, felony and misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of salvia and possession of drug paraphernalia. Several of those arrested face multiple charges.
