Elderly Couple Accused of Scamming Thousands of Dollars

Scam 2An 80-year old man and his 78-year old wife are lodged in the Floyd County Jail, accused of scamming two elderly men out of tens of thousands of dollars.

Arrest warrants taken out by the Rome Police Department, listed the address for Glenn Lawson Carden Sr. and Annie Mae Carden as East Line Street it Calhoun.

They alleged that the Carden’s obtained approximately 62-thousand dollars from one of the victims in 2013 and around 78-thousand dollars from the second victim in 2014 in a loan scam.

The Carden’s are charged with both theft by taking, and exploitation of the elderly because accessed the financial resources using fake pretenses and the victim’s were both over the age of 65.
