Elderly Man Robbed While Asking For Directions

An 87 year old Gadsden resident was reportedly robbed, after getting lost and stopping to ask for help. According to the information contained in a news release from Gadsden Police Department Captain Bobby Jackson the elderly man was driving home from a bowling alley in Rainbow City when he took a wrong turn.

He told police that he’d stopped at the intersection of 14th Street and Walnut Street and was soon approached by a man of foot, asking if he could help.

The victim asked for directions and the man said he needed to see some ID first – however as the elderly man pulled out his wallet – which contained around $300 – the subject grabbed the wallet and ran.

Police have a description of the subject, and they are currently following up with interviews in an effort to locate the suspect.
