According to Sheriff Matthew Wade, an eleven month old boy died after falling into a septic tank earlier this week in Calhoun County
The accident happened around 7:00pm Wednesday at a residence on Pelham Lane in Alexandria. The boy’s father had reportedly gone to a friend’s home to work on a car and at some point, he noticed that he couldn’t find his son and went to investigate.
Sheriff Wade said the manhole on the septic tank had a plastic covering which wasn’t secured. The father performed CPR until help arrived and the boy was then taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation is underway, however the sheriff says he doesn’t expect any charges – adding that it just appears to be a tragic accident.
