According to Cherokee County EMA Director Shawn Rogers, shortly before 6:30 Saturday emergency personnel with Cherokee EMS, Spring Creek Fire Department, Cherokee County Rescue Squad, and the Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency responded to reported boating accident in the area between Spring Creek Bridge and Cowan Creek Bridge off County Road 22.

Once emergency crews got in the area it was learned that there was a stranded boat that had ran out of gas, near the area of the reported crash.

Upon further investigation, it was confirmed that the stranded boat and the boat that was reported to have had an accident were one in the same.

After running out of gas some of the occupants jumped into the water and swam to the shore to get help which caused some bystanders in a near by campground to believe the boat had crashed.

Personnel with the Rescue Squad towed the stranded boat to safety.

No injuries were reported.
