Emily Blunt Says "Girl on the Train" Role Was "Ultimately Satisfying Part"

Donna Ward/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — The Girl on the Train made a stop in New York Tuesday night for a red carpet premiere.

Star Emily Blunt joined her castmates at the event. She plays Rachel, the titular character, who becomes fascinated by a couple she sees out the window during her commute. The female half of the couple goes missing after that, and Rachel’s life devolves into one big mystery story.

On the red carpet, Blunt called the role of Rachel the “ultimately satisfying part” she’s ever played.

Though her character is a bit nosy — OK, maybe a lot nosy — Blunt said all people have “voyeuristic tendencies to various degrees.”

“But I think that idea of seeing behind closed doors, seeing what we shouldn’t, is sort of tantalizing for everybody,” she added.

The Girl on the Train, based on the best-selling novel by Paula Hawkins, opens Friday.
