3PM SEVERE WEATHER UPDATE:
 
Overview: Showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout later this afternoon and tonight as a disturbance moves into the region. Some thunderstorms will likely become strong to severe by late this afternoon and into the overnight hours, with the highest threat area across the northern and northwest counties.
 
Changes from previous forecast: Enhanced threat area expanded to northeast Alabama and minor timing changes for today. Included risk of a strong tornado across far northern (Enhanced) areas.

Threats:
Damaging winds up to 60-70 mph.
Tornadoes possible.
A strong tornado or two is possible in the Enhanced threat area.
