According to the Georgia Department of Corrections, Sean Nicholas Powell was taken into custody without incident at around 9:15 Monday night. Powell, who had walked away from a city work detail at East View Cemetery around 8:00 that morning was captured near the Kwik Way store on Calhoun Avenue.
The escape resulted in the lockdown of North Heights Elementary for several hours.
Powell was serving time for a drug conviction and now faces additional charges.
