Etowah County Man Crashes Stolen Truck During Police Chase

A high speed pursuit involving a stolen truck filled with stolen goods came to an abrupt end when the driver crashed.

Sheriff Todd Entrekin said that 20 year old Marshall Tyler Green from Altoona stole a 2005 Chevy Silverado from a location on Durham Road, and when a deputy spotted the truck and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, instead of pulling over, Green sped away and eventually wrecked the vehicle.

The truck had a number of stolen items in the bed, including a toolbox and a variety of hand tools, a backpack blower and a roll of stainless steel wire. 

Investigators also recovered items from another theft on Durham Road inside the vehicle in the wake of the crash.

According to Sheriff Entrekin Green told authorities that he had a drug problem adding that was high on crystal meth and synthetic marijuana when he took the truck.

Green was charged with First Degree Theft of Property – and First Degree Theft of Property (vehicle), in addition to a long list of traffic offenses.

He remains in the Etowah County Detention Center with bond set at $14,800.
