Ex-Walmart Employee Charged with Making Bomb Threat(s)

A 23 year old former employee has now been arrested, in connection with two recent bomb threats at the Trion, Georgia Walmart.

On Wednesday, Chief Investigator Jason Burrage with the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Melanie Ann Cornett in connection with the threats, which occurred January 29th, and February 5th, with both incidents causing major disruption to daily operations, leading to the store being evacuated until a thorough sweep of the building was conducted – and an “All-Clear” issued.  In each incident, a note was found in the women’s restroom at the rear of the store, saying a bomb had been placed inside the building.

Cornett, of a Trion address, has been charged with two counts each of Terroristic Threats & Ats and False Report of a Crime in addition to one count of False Statements and Writings.  She was booked in at the Chattooga County Jail after turning herself in on the warrants and is currently being held on a $10,000 property bond.
