Family Suing DeKalb County School System Over Incident In 2012

A DeKalb County family is suing the county school system for an accident involving their daughter and a school bus back in 2012. Julia Johnson’s attorney said this was not the bus driver’s first accident and should not have been allowed to drive for the school system.

Johnson said that she thought he had the doors open but he didn’t, so he drug her.

But in preparing for the suit, Attorney George Hartline said they began to learn some troubling things.

The bus driver had a shaking condition when he was hired and had that same condition when he had a prior wreck but wasn’t removed as a bus driver. It then happened again to Julia.

Two year after the incident, two things are forever etched into her memory, mornings and school buses.

Attempts to reach Superintendent, Hugh Taylor, for a comment were unsuccessful.
