Father and Son Charged with Robbery and Kidnapping

Two Crossville men are facing charges of Robbery and Kidnapping in DeKalb County.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris said both 55 year old Bobby Lynn Dowdy, Sr. and 35 year old Bobby Lynn Dowdy, Jr. were taken into custody without incident at a County Road 9 residence by Drug Task Force Agents and Investigators after the victim reported the event to the sheriff’s office.

The pair stands accused of taking another man’s cash and other valuables at gunpoint, while they drove around; the victim told law enforcement officials that he thought he was going to be killed, and was continuously being threatened by the suspects during the incident.

He was eventually released, and he then contacted the sheriff’s office to make a report regarding what had occurred.

Both Dowdy and his son are in the DeKalb County Detention Center, awaiting bond on charges of Robbery 1st Degree and Kidnapping 2nd Degree.

Sheriff Harris says he expects additional charges to be filed in connection with the case.
