The fifth and final victim of last week’s DeKalb County mobile home fire has been identified as 27 year old Cody Alexander Dove of Flat Rock.

Sheriff Nick Welden stated that a call came into DeKalb County 9-1-1 Thursday, reporting a structure fire off of Highway 75 near the Georgia state line.

The Cartersville, Henagar and Tri-Community Fire Departments all responded to the scene, with DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Ider Police providing assistance; however, the home was already fully involved when firefighters arrived on the scene.

A total of five bodies were discovered inside the structure, and transported later that day to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Huntsville for autopsy.

Results on four victims came back with those being identified as Kayla Jackson, age 26; four year old Kaylon Stotts; three year old Jaycee Stotts; and Harley Stotts, age 18 months – with identification on the fifth person still pending at that time.

The incident remains under investigation by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, Jacksonville State University Center for Applied Forensic Sciences and Alabama Fire Marshals.
