Fire At The Old Eastaboga Elementary School Believed To Have Been Caused By Lightning

Fire officials are investigating the old Eastaboga Elementary School after it went up in flames Saturday afternoon.

Around noon, Oxford Police Department received a call that the school was on fire in the 200 block of John Wills Road, according to Oxford Fire Chief Gary Sparks.

Lincoln and Eastaboga Fire Departments were already on scene fighting the fire when police arrived.

At this time, authorities believe it’s possible the fire started from a lightning strike because there was lightning in the area at the time of the fire. They do not suspect any foul play.

This fire remains under investigation.
