A Fire broke out at a warehouse at Cherokee Milling off of the Cedar Bluff Road on Thursday afternoon – Fire Units from the Centre, Cedar Bluff and Leesburg Departments were all on the scene for an extended period of time extinguishing the blaze.
The building contained ground up corn among other things and crews had to use a bobcat to push the burning piles of debris out the front door of warehouse.
Firefighters remained on the scene for several hours putting out hotspots – no one was reported injured during the fire however heavy smoke hampered driving conditions on Cedar Bluff Road for a short period bringing visibility at times to zero.
It is not known at this time exactly what caused the fire – we’ll have more as reports are available from the Centre Fire Department.
Centre Police also responded to the scene.
