Area firefighters, including units from Sand Rock and Collinsville, responded to reports of a mobile home fire on Highway 68 near the intersection with County Road 17 around 1:00am Wednesday.
That structure, which was already fully involved by the time firefighters arrived, was a total loss. It appears that the occupants of the home – who had been allowed to stay there by the homeowner – made it out safely; the American Red Cross is providing them with assistance in regard to temporary lodging and other matters.
The cause of that fire remains under investigation.
